Negotiations continue as Methodist Healthcare is now out of most BlueCross networks

BlueCross BlueShield Latest Updates

At BlueCross, we’re committed to supporting the wellbeing of our members – and we’re continuing negotiations with Methodist Healthcare, which includes Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, to restore access to in-network care with a new contract to replace the one that ended Dec. 31.

Here are three things to keep in mind until a new deal is reached:

  • Your coverage gives you access to quality health care from other Memphis-area facilities, including Baptist Memorial Health Care, Regional One, and St. Francis.
  • You can still see Methodist physicians. Physician groups are not impacted by this dispute and will continue to provide in-network care for BlueCross members. Many providers have privileges at other in-network hospitals including Baptist, St. Francis, Regional One, and others should the need arise.
  • As always, if a true emergency arises, you should visit the closest emergency room, including those at Methodist or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital facilities. True emergencies are always covered as in-network.

We value Methodist as a partner in caring for our West Tennessee members. We want to reach an agreement that ultimately lowers the cost of health care for our members and customers. If you’d like to understand more about our recent negotiations, including a contract offer rejected by Methodist that would have kept Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in-network for many of our members, read our Dec. 29 update.

In the meantime, we’re here to answer your questions and help you get the care you need. Call the number on the back of your member ID for assistance from our support teams or log in at BCBST.com and click on the Find Care tool to learn more about in-network options near you.

We are keeping the lines of communication open with Methodist and we’ll be sure to keep members informed. In the meantime, you can visit bcbstnetworkupdates.com for details.
